Glide: Manage/Sync Your Stuff with Flex
Glide is a Flex app built by Transmedia and is described as “The first complete online operating system” on the Glide website. It looks to be an ambitious project and there’s a lot going on inside this app. There’s the ability to store and organize photos, music, videos, documents and bookmarks. You can also perform “network” tasks like sharing a calendar, sharing files, email and chat. There’s also the ability to create websites, presentations, edit photos, and create a blog.
There’s a lot of similar features to Wallop, but things are layed out in a much more structured way. There’s also a lot more “syncing” of information. Not only with other Glide users, but with your computer and cell phone as well.
I only played around with this app for a few minutes to get an initial feel and I’m sure there’s more that it offers, or doesn’t. It was worth a look and I’ll be tracking it’s progress as it moves through beta.

Looks interesting but it’s way too buggy for a public release right now, I think… I had several errors and glitches in the first two minutes of using it. I do wish them luck though; looks really cool.

i agree with jamie. however for the hype they are getting its odd, the concept isnt new and the execution of this wasnt done as well as other in the industry have done it. They are seemingly getting a ton of press from financial based press and some tech publications as well but again i have yet to see anything so amazing about it. Integration of a photo editor like that on Fuxto would have been a wow factor, direct flex integrated email instead of a standard html based email client reminicent of 2000 would have been a better integrated solution, and more customized styling as well as a more usable and original music player. Im not to clear on what those icons are that they are using but i dont think of calculator when i see a green diamond, or weather when i see a blue circle??? The site In my opinion has a very long way to go before it is even par with the tech out there now.

These guys are the first to actually build anytime anywhere access to all of your files and information from a PC, Mac, Linux PC and a ton of phones. I have been using Glide for several months and what’s really cool is that you can access your files over any network, Cingular, Verizon, T-Mobile and broadband. Check out the photo editor, presentation tool and website builder they are best of breed. You can even edit and convert photos and documents as well as create websites from your phone. The email client has advanced rights management built in and tracking capability to see who is looking at your files. I have never seen this in a consumer app before. I’m not sure what the Glide guys had in mind for the home page but the icons are all based on a geometric theme… which is kind of cool but definitely different. Glide is way ahead of anything I have seen and I have seen a lot.

I have a razr v3 and am interested in interfacing with my desktop Dell. How does this work, if it does work? How does the home computer get awaken and in communication? Thanks Robeert
